How budgeting for your photos will save your family memories later

January feels so quiet and it seems like the perfect time to plan for the coming year. As you budget for your vacations, birthdays, kids activities, etc, why not budget for your family session or professional headshots, rather than scrambling towards the end of the year when money is tight already with so much gift shopping.

Whether you do a session annually or every other year, family photos are one of the most important activities you do as a family, as what your brain can’t remember, photos can. I look at some old photos and realize ‘oh my gosh I totally forgot we did this’ or ‘how kids looked at this age’, and I am sure many of you can agree.

And as a full service photographer, I can create tangible products such as albums, wall art and prints, so you can enjoy them every day, and even pass them on to your kids.

Having worked as a professional photographer for over 10 years, no one ever said “I wish we hadn’t done a session”! In fact, what I hear from many families is “I wish we had started family photos earlier”. So, just like any essentials, plan and budget for your photos.

And if you have a few more minutes, I recommend this post to learn positive effect of having family photos in your house on your children.

My calendar is now open for booking through June, and my fall booking will start in July. You will receive fall priority booking notice if you sign up for my newsletters. You can sign up on here now.

And the same goes for professional headshots. A lot of people wait until a great job position comes along, or a conference speaking opportunity is offered, or an article in an industry magazine is about to be published.

The reality is, if you have those professional photos handy, you can submit them in a second, and you know you look great and professional. Please remember that my normal processing time for headshots from the session to digital delivery is 5-10 business days depending on the workload my studio is under, so express service is not always available.

You will be so much happier if you schedule your session every few years so your headshots are up to date, and don’t have to scramble when you are busy to get photos done.
